Falcon 24/7 Fraud Monitoring – FAQs

What is Falcon?

Falcon is a fraud monitoring service that monitors all transactions that occur on your LANCO Visa credit card day and night. Falcon is free of charge to LANCO cardholders.

Although Falcon will protect you against potential fraud, it is important that you continue to monitor your transactions.

How does Falcon determine if a transaction is fraudulent?

Falcon assesses a risk score for each transaction that you make by comparing your purchasing patterns to trends of check and credit card fraud. If a transaction is scored high in risk, the transaction will be denied and a Falcon representative will contact the cardholder.

How will Falcon try to contact me?

Falcon calls the cardholder using the phone numbers that are supplied by LANCO FCU. It is important for LANCO FCU to have the correct phone numbers for each cardholder to make it easier to be contacted by Falcon.

Will Falcon verify that they are talking to the cardholder?

Yes. Falcon will verify the cardholder by asking for the last 4 digits of their social security number.  If you do not feel comfortable giving someone who called you this information, you can call Falcon direct at 1-800-437-9392 and verify your identity.

What if Falcon cannot call me because I am on vacation?

If your card is denied and you have no reason to believe it should have been denied, then Falcon might have determined a transaction was fraudulent due to a high risk score. You can call LANCO FCU toll free at 888-318-4222 to verify the reason why your card was denied. It is also a good idea to let LANCO’s credit card department know when you will be going on vacation so Falcon will have some insight as to why transactions are occurring in a different area.

I let LANCO FCU know that I was going on vacation and my card was still denied by Falcon. Why?

Even if you let us know that you will be on vacation, there is still a chance that you could be a victim of fraud. That is why Falcon will still monitor every transaction while you are on vacation. It is a good idea to take LANCO FCU’s phone number with you on vacation in case this situation occurs.
